Hello Everyone,
See below for rapidly approaching DEADLINE INFORMATION:
My name is Emily Willmann, OMS IV, and I serve as your SAAO Executive Council (EC) Vice Chair. Part of my role is organizing the annual A. Hollis Wolf (AHW) Case Presentation Competition held at the AAO Convocation each year. Please see below for information regarding this competition.
What is AHW?
The goal of the A. Hollis Wolf (AHW) Case Presentation Competition is to demonstrate the application of osteopathic principles through a case study. Only one student per COM is allowed to compete. Participants have the chance to win individual awards, as well as bonus VIP points for your SAAO Chapter.
How do I register?
COM SAAO Chapters must submit a school registration form by January 14th, 2022 (recently extended). Completed presentations are not required by this time, but the participating SAAO Member from the respective COM must submit a participant registration form with an initial presentation. Note that participants must be a national SAAO Member.
What are the new deadlines?
Jan. 14, 2022 (recently extended): Submit the A. Hollis Wolf Case Presentation Competition school registration form
Jan. 14, 2022: Submit the A. Hollis Wolf Case Presentation Competition participant registration form
Jan. 28, 2022: Submit ÔÇïyour initial A. Hollis Wolf Case Presentation Competition presentation to SAAOVchair@academyofosteopathy.org.
Feb. 28, 2022: Submit final A. Hollis Wolf Case Presentation Competition presentation to SAAOVchair@academyofosteopathy.org.
Grading Rubric
A comprehensive grading rubric that is used for the competition is available in the 2021-22 SAAO Chapter Notebook. This is to direct our AHW Case Competition participants and judges with clearly defined guidelines. The rubric ÔÇïoutlines expected components but still encourages your individualism. Please refer to the rubric available in the 2021-22 SAAO Chapter Notebook.
How does the process work?
The AAO will provide qualified reviewers, who will evaluate each initial presentation for correct AMA style citations. Presentations will be returned to the student participant with suggested citation corrections within three weeks of submission. ONLY citations are being reviewed at this time. Each student will have the opportunity to make ÔÇïthe suggested changes to their presentation. Final presentations should be submitted to SAAOVchair@academyofosteopathy.org. Corrected AMA style citations will be checked. Please view the SAAO Chapter Notebook more information.
The SAAO EC is excited to be back in person for Convo this year. We realize that our challenges continue in the time of COVID, but we encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to showcase your work on the Convo stage! The SAAO EC is here to support you.
